Rainforest Lumina: A Walk in the Dark

Have you ever wondered how it feels to take a stroll through a lush rainforest at night? Are you curious to experience a walk in the thrilling rainforest?

If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, then you would be glad to know that now you have the opportunity to visit and explore a rainforest at night. Where and when, you might ask? Well, Rainforest Lumina in Singapore Zoo is one such experience that you can savor which will truly invigorate your senses and allow you to explore the thrilling forest setting, without endangering yourself. This attraction was started from 1st July as part of Singapore Zoo’s 45th-anniversary celebrations and is a one-of-a-kind experience in the entire South East Asia.

Here, you will encounter an enchanting universe, where you can undertake a magical journey into the rainforest at night. With Rainforest Lumina (Singapore Zoo), you will experience an audio-visual multimedia walkthrough in the rainforest setting where you will encounter 10 interactive zones for a mesmerizing experience.

What Happens in the Rainforest Lumina?

Once the zoo closes down for the day, many paths and enclosures are converted into new exhibitions which are completely lighted up to give an eerie night glow to the setting. To give it a more extraordinary feel, the Rainforest Lumina in Singapore Zoo also offers a distinctive narrative to the visitors with the help of the Creature Crew. But, who are they?

The Creature Crew is an interesting, special group of heroes who will take you on an exciting and magical journey through the rainforest. It is a group of virtual animals that can be sighted around various exhibits which will make the night walk even more enthralling for you. These virtual animals believe that all the animals, humans, and nature have it in them to give back to the rainforest. And their motto, ‘We are One’ conveys that all of us have a special role to play on this special journey.

On the way, you will come across lighted treetops with a dramatic soundtrack to give a more realistic effect to this experience and several other equally real exhibitions. In Garden of Vines, you will first come across the Creature Crew where you can also select a character’s bracelet to follow them on their journey. The luminous pathways dotted with laser light transform the jungle into a magical galaxy and transports you instantly to an unreal universe.

At Zoo’s White Tiger enclosure, you will come across a device which will let you Sing like an Animal to awaken the digital creatures here. And the floor lanterns will keep you company throughout the journey while the light huts will add a more magical touch to your experience here.

There is another interactive exhibit, Play Like an Animal, where you need to bunny hop in order to awaken the Creature Crew. And finally, on the Wall of Fame, you can scan your bracelet and learn more about the journey of the chosen Crew member. While walking on this trail, you will come across animated projections of animals flying fox, orangutans, and so on which will make this journey even more exciting for you.

Rainforest Lumina is undoubtedly one of the most creative and magical attraction to ever be introduced in Asia and should definitely be on your bucket list. The Rainforest Lumina trail is 1 km long and can take anywhere between 30 – 40 minutes.
