Salzburg

Salzburg or ‘Salt Castle’ is one of the best places to visit in Austria. It is nestled on the banks of river Salzach and shares its border with Germany with a breathtaking view of the eastern Alps. This small city was named Austria’s most inspiring place to visit.

Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Mozart College for musicians is situated here offering numerous opportunities to hear his music. The city was the setting for the popular film The Sound of Music. The city comes with a flourishing art scene, beautiful parks, good restaurants and picturesque side streets. Salzburg’s UNESCO listed world heritage site “Old-Town”(Altstadt) is well known for its baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved walled cities of the region. This town is perfect for getting lost in the streets, admiring the sights, and maybe has a cup of coffee. Another one of the best places of Salzburg is its 900-year-old cliff-top fortress, Festung Hohensalzburg on the Mönchsberg Mountain. When in Salzburg, make sure to visit the Golden Hall and its gold-studded ceiling imitating a starry night. The striking white exterior of the fortress stands out the most. Hellbrunn Castle or Palace is surrounded by a beautiful park and also has a zoo close by. This castle is of bright yellow and its front façade is fully symmetrical.T he main attractions are the gardens and trick fountains. Some other places to visit in Salzburg are Salzburg Castle, Neugebauer, Getreidegasse, Tou  Museum to name a few.
