Sentosa translates to Peace and tranquillity in Malay and has its roots in the Sanskrit term Santosha meaning “satisfactionâ€. Staying true to its name, the Sentosa is an entire island dedicated to leisure and tourism that receives some twenty million visitors per year. Situated 15 minutes away from the central business and shopping districts, Sentosa island is the fourth largest island in Singapore (excluding the mainland) with the size of 500-hectares. It is home to one of the most amazing theme park, Universal Studios. Though small in size, Sentosa packs in a lot of fun. It is home to some of the best award-winning spa retreats, lush rainforests for nature lovers, beautiful palm-lined beaches to enjoy the tropical weather, state of the art golf courses (The Serapong and The Tanjong), a deep-water yachting marina and luxurious accommodations. Beyond the resort, there is 3.2km long beach and the many outdoor facilities that can put anyone in their best mood. It also houses the iconic Merlion. Some of the other attractions of this man-made island are Tiger Sky Tower, Singapore Butterfly & Insect Kingdom, and one of the largest collections of aquatic animals in the world, S.E.A Aquarium. Sentosa Cove located at the east end is an exclusive oceanfront and residential enclave bustling with some 2,000 homes, romantic quayside restaurants, retail and speciality shops.
